Shadow Minister for Public Health, Sharon Hodgson MP held a travel insurance Parliamentary Drop-in on Wednesday 11th July 2018 at Portcullis House.
The event was supported by Travel Insurance Explained and raised awareness and understanding of travel insurance, particularly for vulnerable consumers who may have difficulties finding suitable cover at an appropriate price.
The drop-in session proved popular with MP’s with a large number attending.
Feedback from the event was positive with many MP’s asking how they can help their constituents to access fairer travel insurance at an appropriate price, particularly those with a medical condition.
Fiona Macrae, head of Travelinsuranceexplained.co.uk, said: “We were delighted to be invited to support this drop-in, which is timely following the release of the FCA’s recent feedback report on access to travel insurance. We want to keep the momentum behind the access to insurance journey for those with all medical conditions. As part of our campaign, we will be inviting key stakeholders, including; charities, insurers’ medical risk rating providers and associations, in the Autumn to join us for a roundtable to have an open debate on the issues raised by the recent FCA report. Travelinsuranceexplained.co.uk intends to lobby and campaign heavily in the coming months to make sure the consumer gets the right outcomes and the industry is seen in the positive light that it rightly deserves.”
