Yesterday was a big day for both the United Kingdom and America as the engagement of Prince Harry and actress, Meghan Markle was officially announced. The couple, who have been dating for just over a year will marry in Spring 2018 and we just can’t wait!
In their first public appearance, Prince Harry said he knew Meghan was ‘the one’ from the moment they met and he even took the time to design his bride-to-be’s engagement ring himself – with a special touch; two of the three diamonds belonged to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Public reaction has been incredible, with many expressing their love and congratulations for the happy couple. What many of us want to know is how the proposal took place, however Prince Harry teased the media saying ‘that will come later’ so stay tuned.
The couple will now settle into Harry’s home at Kensington Palace and begin the preparations for the much anticipated 2018 Royal Wedding.
As Christmas approaches and the announcement settles in, many couples may be looking to pop the question and start planning their own fairy-tale wedding and what could be more romantic then on holiday? Picturesque scenery, a relaxed atmosphere and champagne on tap – perfect.
Many proposals take place abroad, but with some rings costing a small fortune it is a good idea to always make sure they are covered. We understand you are likely to want to keep this a secret, so the easiest way to cover the ring without ruining the surprise is to make sure your travel insurance has a high enough personal possession cover limit – be sure to check single item limits too as some policies may offer £1500 in total for possessions but only up to £200 for jewellery.
Another option is to check if you have worldwide personal possession cover on your home insurance. It is worth noting that if both you and your loved one are named on the home insurance then you may both receive a notification of a new item being added. Make sure you speak with the company beforehand so they don’t accidently ruin the surprise.
