Just when we thought we had heard the last of drone attacks on airports, one of the busiest airports in the world is experiencing severe delays and disruption this morning due to drone sightings.
Dubai Airport, in the UAE, has grounded all flights with thousands of passengers still aboard planes that are stranded on the runway.
Flights are expected to resume shortly, but the backlash from the drone attack has already caused severe delays for passengers flying to and from the airport.
In December 2018, hundreds of thousands of passengers were affected when drones disrupted Gatwick Airport.
Passengers looking to claim compensation for the delay should be aware that it is unlikely airlines will pay out due to the event being classed as an extraordinary circumstance, however should instead check their travel insurance carefully.
Most travel insurance policies will offer to cover a small amount of compensation depending on the length of the delay. More in delays and the compensation you are entitled to through your travel insurance policy can be found here.
