With less than a week to go before their opening fixture, the England team are all packed and ready to go. They are departing from Birmingham Airport on Tuesday 12th June 2018, heading for Repino, which is about 45 minutes from Saint Petersburg, where they will be based.
This early arrival allows them to acclimatise and fit in a few training sessions before their match on Monday 18th June 2018, against Tunisia, in the Volgograd Arena.
England, who are in Group G, will be flying 4,064 miles while playing their group matches, and there is plenty of buzz about their preparation. Midfielder, Jesse Lingard fuelled the fans excitement by posting a video on Twitter revealing a few of his must have travel items. This included amongst other things; his Louis Vuitton designer washbag, an Apple laptop, a bottle of aftershave and a surprising total of 8 toothbrushes. He also couldn’t leave without his trendy Beats headphones, and a pair of designer sunglasses.
With such an extensive travel kit, Lingard unknowingly highlighted a top travel tip for fans gearing up to head off to Russia themselves. He was going to put his laptop in his suitcase but decided it would be best in his rucksack as carry-on luggage. This is good advice as most travel insurance policies would not cover you if your valuables or electronic items were stolen from your check-in bag.
Another important point to note is the value of items you are taking abroad, particularly electronic items such as laptops and smart phones. Many travel insurance policies will not offer automatic cover for electronic items and many that do can have a single item limit as low as £150. Don’t panic though, there are policies available that will offer cover up to £2,000 for electronic items, so something to consider when checking if a policy is right for you.
