Ireland’s budget airline, Ryanair, has not had the best year following a major error during its busiest time of year where too many pilots where granted annual leave and thousands of flights had to be cancelled. But now, pilots from Ryanair’s Irish, Italian and German base are threatening to strike just days before Christmas.

It's cold, windy and icy across the UK and the road conditions are treacherous, schools have closed and dozens of flights, ferries and rail services have been cancelled. The Met Office has issued an amber alert across Wales, the Midlands and Northern and Eastern England.

This week Australians are celebrating the long-awaited decision to legalise same-sex marriage. After a decade of dispute, MPs have voted to change the Marriage Act and allow those of the same sex to wed. The decision was met with cheers, applause and even tears of joy and the reaction is likely to continue across the country.

Only 64 days left until athletes from across the world will be gathering in PyeongChang, Republic of Korea, to witness the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics, which runs from 9th to the 25th February. Earlier this week the International Olympic Committee announced Russia's ban.

Over 27,000 residents of Ventura and Santa Paula were evacuated from their homes after wildfires spread across Southern California. Firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze, which is thought to have destroyed 45,500 acres of land and 150 buildings.
